Academic Support
Some participants choose to take classes with their colleges or universities while participating on their program. If you choose to do this, there are a few resources available for you to take advantage of.
Please note: even if you choose to take classes back at school during your program, you are still expected to provide FULL availability for work. We recommend only taking classes if you are able to flexibly manage your own class schedule.
Independent Study Hall
Need dedicated time to complete an online course during your program? Independent Study Hall is a helpful resource to consider.
Independent Study Hall can be requested no earlier than one month before your arrival date.
Independent Study Hall is a resource that gives you dedicated study time each week to complete assignments for your online courses during your program by ensuring you have time scheduled off from work.
At this time, you can request up to two blocks of time each week, for two to three hours per block, for Independent Study Hall.
Independent Study Hall is NOT guaranteed. Your request for Independent Study Hall will not go into effect until THREE weeks after your arrival date due to training schedules. Please note that there are times during the year when we are not able to guarantee the time off due to peak operational times.
Independent Study Hall is available Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. If you need time outside of this, please indicate this in the "Detail” portion of your submission and we will contact you for further details.
Note that your Independent Study Hall may not be applied during a no offering period. A no offering period is a window of time when Walt Disney World Resort sees a higher volume of Guests, and time off work cannot be guaranteed. This might include, for example, the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas and spring break season in March/April.
You can submit up to two requests, and the request should include:
- The day of the week - you would like to reserve for each request (max. two requests).
- A start and end time - You may request no more than three hours each day for all requests.
- Proof of your course documentation from your college or university that indicates:
- Your name
- Your college/university
- Academic term/academic term dates
- List of the class or classes you are taking
Once Disney Programs has received and approved your uploaded documentation, you will receive a confirmation email of your enrollment. It takes about three weeks for Independent Study Hall to be reflected on your work schedule.
Registering for Independent Study Hall may cap your maximum work hours per week to 45 hours, excluding dates during a no offering period.
