What Tim Has Learned in Over 20 Years at Disney
A 20-plus-year career with Disney welcomes so much magic to be made! And for Tim, a Sales Operations Manager for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) at Disneyland Resort, it has brought adventure, new challenges, magical moments and creating wonderful experiences for guests around the world.
Tim’s Disney adventure started back in 2003 with a summer job at Disneyland Resort. “I started part-time as an Attractions Host in Disney California Adventure, working on iconic attractions like Mulholland Madness and California Screamin’. After several years in attractions, I transitioned to Guest Relations, ultimately becoming a Tour Guide. In 2016, I made a shift to security, where I honed my skills for a year before joining the Disney Special Activities team. In 2022, I took on a new challenge as a Project Manager with Disney Vacation Club, and in 2023, I stepped into my current role as Sales Operations Manager.”
Each stop in Tim’s Disney career has held an impactful purpose for him and shaped his approach in his current role. “The insights I gained in each former department, from security to Disney special activities, have been invaluable in guiding my team and developing our Coordinator team at DVC,” Tim said.
Tim’s interest in working for DVC was born from being a DVC member himself. “A memorable trip to Copper Creek deepened my appreciation for the brand and the unique experiences Disney Vacation Club offers its guests. This inspired me to join the team and contribute to its growth here in California!”
Today, Tim’s days are centered around effective communication and collaboration in sales operations. “I prioritize ensuring that the sales and operations teams are aligned. Connecting with cast members across various locations is vital to my approach, as is strategizing for future sales initiatives and anticipating potential challenges to best support both my team and the sales efforts.”
When you’ve been a cast member for over 20 years, like Tim has, you pick up a lesson or two! One of his most significant lessons is that “leadership goes beyond titles. It's about leading with grace and empathy. I've learned from some of the best leaders in the industry, who exemplify what it means to truly lead—they don’t just speak about it; they live it.” That’s the exact mindset Tim takes in developing leaders. To Tim, emphasizing collaboration and encouraging cast members to take ownership of their own ideas is the key to fostering a welcoming environment.
What started as a summer job has blossomed into a magical career at Disney for Tim. And by the looks of it, he's got a lot more pixie dust to spread!
