"My Disney journey started in food and beverage. And then, while in hair school, I transferred to the cosmetology department. And this is where I found my dream job," shares Mona.
From a young age, Mona's love for hair styling grew stronger, leading her to pursue formal education and licensing in Florida. "Cosmetology is a world of its own within Disney World. Many opportunities I have had the chance to be blessed with are opening shows and working the parades."
Mona's enthusiasm is evident as she describes the dynamic work environment: "We all play a role. We all work together to get the job done. The biggest payoff is the guests' reaction when they see that performer, and they step out on stage." Her pride in the collective effort and the magic they create is palpable. "To be a part of a company that sustains such a legacy is mind-blowing. We create. We design. And it's never-ending."
Over on the West Coast, Diego's journey into the world of Disney cosmetology is equally exciting. "I did not know there were opportunities for cosmetologists here at Disney. So, as soon as I found out, I made sure I submitted an application because I just love how magical Disney is."
Diego's childhood memories of being mesmerized by Disney On Ice performances in Mexico fueled his passion. Now, he's part of the magic that once captivated him. "It's just so fulfilling to be behind the scenes… It is a very accomplishing feeling."
Diego highlights the inclusive environment at Disneyland, which he describes as welcoming and supportive. "For me, inclusion means equality for everyone. It means there's a place for everyone here at Disneyland, not just in the cosmetology department, but everywhere." His advice for aspiring cosmetologists is encouraging: "Come join us. There's a place for you here with us. Everyone here is very welcoming, and we're waiting for you!"
Laura's journey at Disneyland Resort began with fond memories of her childhood visits. "What inspired me to work for Disneyland was remembering my childhood. The magic moments that we had as a family, and I can bring my family now."
Starting as a Lead Trainer, Laura played a pivotal role in opening shows and mentoring new talent. A strong Disney family and invaluable mentors supported her growth within the company. "Every day that we come to work is very different. We have no idea what's in store. I am surrounded by amazing hairstylists who are creative and passionate about their work."
Laura emphasizes Disney's numerous benefits and opportunities, including the Disney Aspire program, which supports continued education. "Disney Aspire is so helpful. And as you're moving in different roles, you need those tools to keep you growing." For Laura, inclusion means everyone is welcome, which resonates deeply within her department.
