Diego, a Marketing Strategy Manager for the Adventures by Disney and Nat Geo Expeditions team, believes that Disney’s magic extends far beyond the parks.

“From your movies in your living room to cruises around the world, Disney is expanding its footprint every day,” Diego said. “Disney magic is so much more than the parks…it is the feeling you get when you interact with our product and the memories you make while doing so.”

Diego also mentioned the enduring reach The Walt Disney Company has had throughout his life, from seeing Cinderella’s castle at six years old to staying up late with college buddies for the latest releases from Marvel.

“I wanted to be able to help spread that joy to others, and thus my Disney journey began,” he said.

But before he became a Marketing Strategy Manager, Diego was once a Disney intern! Supporting Walt Disney World Resort for Florida Resident and Annual Pass, Diego says it got him acclimated to life at Disney and gave him world-class entertainment work experience.

When asked about his transition to his current role, he attributed his career trajectory to “hard work and lots of networking.”

In his current role, Diego gets to share the whole new world that Disney offers guests through the power of marketing. By setting the strategy for trade clients and synergy opportunities, Diego sees his team as a growth engine that amplifies numerous opportunities to experience new adventures through the company.

“The best part of working with [my] team is sitting in a department with unique experiences going on every day,” Diego said. “From guided travel with Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions to Hawaiian destinations like Aulani, there truly is a product for everyone to enjoy.”

Diego says his role gives him an exciting challenge to communicate the Disney magic in different ways—and has grown his flair for critical and strategic thinking.

“As a strategist, you often need to balance what is going on right in front of you with the long-term vision,” Diego explained. “I love thinking holistically and being able to set a long-term plan for development.”

In Diego’s time at the company, he’s seen that investment in development not only from the marketing initiatives he produces but also from his leaders and beyond.

“[My leaders] inspire and encourage us to take on the next challenge. I feel empowered by them to go out and be the best version of myself,” Diego said.

Showing guests the magic beyond Disney’s physical walls requires a lot of partner communication—something Diego says is one of the most rewarding and challenging parts of his role.

“Every decision made by Strategy has ripple effects, thus making sure you bring everyone along for the journey is paramount to success,” Diego said. “It takes a village here at [Disney]… it is so rewarding watching all these different teams come together for a unified message.”

When asked for advice on applying to Disney, Diego stressed the importance of networking and showcasing your authentic self.

“Many qualified people go after these jobs, but the ones who let their personality shine are ultimately the ones who end up getting the job.”
