Meet Dion, a manager with Hong Kong Disneyland’s Horticulture team! She has explored many roles within her 20-year career with Disney. From starting her career in decoration services to later exploring facilities management. She now oversees the amazing team that brings Hong Kong Disneyland to life through beautiful florals, topiaries, and more!
As Dion was starting her career, she knew that she wanted to be a part of the magic and explore all the different opportunities Disney had to offer. With her background in theatre and project management she was inspired to grow within the company. Throughout her 20 years, she has found ways to have fun every day!
Dion always keeps the “Disney difference” in mind when interacting with guests and her fellow cast members. She says, “At Disney, we ensure that everyone feels comfortable and welcome. Being a leader, I have appreciation and respect for my cast members.” She inspires others by staying passionate about her role and always tried to recognize everyone’s contributions.
Even in challenging situations, Dion creates a collaborative atmosphere for those around her. This year, Dion’s team was assigned to switching the main entrance floral design from the iconic Mickey Mouse silhouette to Duffy the Disney Bear. During this project, there were many hurdles her team had to face. Dion was able to help them through and find solutions through encouragement, problem solving, and listening to one another. The unique vision and fresh perspective each of her teammates brought to the project helped them cross finish line. And in the end, everyone was overjoyed to see the final result of Duffy welcoming all to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Dion hopes that anyone looking to start their career with Disney continues to believe in themselves and their dreams! “There are many diverse opportunities for everyone!” she says, “Find something that aligns with your interests and keep growing your skills. You can do anything!”
