Curious about what it takes to keep a brand-new corporate campus up and running at Disney? Meet Tim Yung, senior manager of engineering services with the Corporate Real Estate Operations team. Follow along with our Q&A to learn more!

Tell us about yourself. What brought you to working at Disney?

“Ever since I was a kid, I have always been an engineer at heart. I used to take electronics apart and put them back together in hopes of learning how it works. My entire career has been spread through multiple design and engineering disciplines including fixture design, packaging design, 2D/3D modeling, graphic design, wood/metal/plastic manufacturing, and HVAC/controls systems design. When I was approached with an engineering opportunity with The Walt Disney Company, I did not know what to expect. What started as curiosity became a genuine interest in Engineering Operations for the corporate portfolio.”

What’s a typical day like in your role?

“My typical day is reviewing design and construction projects with the Engineering Services team to ensure that all work is meeting Disney’s engineering standards. The team and I will also help consult on items requiring troubleshooting and design as it relates to building operations. Our main objective as a team is to provide corporate facilities with a comfortable and resilient workplace.”

What is it like working on the company’s new 7 Hudson Square offices in NYC?

“It’s exciting to be a part of the new NYC headquarters project. From an engineering standpoint, we are sitting on the forefront of energy efficient design and resiliency within New York City. Plus, seeing all of the magic behind the scenes for all of our different business units whether part of our news, editorial, live productions, streaming, technology, advertising, or corporate functions. It’s great to see how all of our productions come together through the efforts of countless teams.”

How would you describe career growth and mobility at Disney?

“My professional growth has been great at Disney. As a group we have never said no to growing our portfolio and responsibilities. Each site that is added under our purview adds a different level of complexity and operational methodology as different business units have the different requirements. Supporting real estate gives me the opportunity to travel to different sites and experience the different needs of our business units.”

As with any job, Disney included, look for something you enjoy doing every day. The Walt Disney Company is extensive with careers in almost every field.”
