Following Four Dream Career Journeys at The Walt Disney Company Brazil
From internships to the Cultural Exchange Program to full-time roles, meet four employees who have experienced it all! At The Walt Disney Company Brazil, there are so many opportunities to unlock the next chapter in your career.
Vitória began her Disney career with the Disney Apprenticeship Program in Brazil. During the same year, she transitioned into an internship. Then, she participated in the Cultural Exchange Program (CEP), where she had the opportunity to work in merchandise in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. At the end of her CEP, she returned to Brazil and joined the company as a junior producer, creative services, ESPN marketing promos.
Akila started her journey with The Walt Disney Company Brazil as a product licensing intern, working with toys, food, health, beauty, and pets. After completing her internship, she joined the Cultural Exchange Program as a merchandise cast member, where she had the opportunity to share Disney magic with guests. Currently, Akila is back in Brazil and working as an assistant, ad creative operations.
Eduardo’s career began at 16 years old! Through the Disney Apprenticeship Program, he had the opportunity to work with the Disney Consumer Products marketing team. Then, he pursued a lifelong dream of working in the Disney Parks by joining the Cultural Exchange Program. His role was quick service food and beverage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. After his CEP, he started a new position in Brazil as an assistant, trade marketing, retail.
Ana’s dream came true when she started her internship in Brazil with marketing sports and events. After that, she felt ready to pursue even bigger dreams, and she applied for the Cultural Exchange Program. She was accepted and worked at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. Today, she is an assistant, brand integration and experiences with The Walt Disney Company Brazil.
1. How did your previous roles prepare you for your current role?
Akila: “My experience as an intern was fundamental for my professional growth. Working directly with licensees and coordinating important processes allowed me to gain confidence and enhance my interpersonal skills. Additionally, during my CEP, I developed intercultural communication skills. By conversing with guests, I improved, not only my English, but also my Spanish.”
Eduardo: “During my Disney Apprenticeship Program, which was also my first professional experience, I had the opportunity to learn many things that have completely shaped the way I visualize, plan and execute my work. During my Cultural Exchange Program, I learned the true importance of teamwork and the functions everyone played to ensure proper functioning of the team.”
2. You have had many incredible opportunities with The Walt Disney Company! What has that experience been like?
Ana: “My story with Disney started from a very young age. From going to the theater with my mother, to visiting Walt Disney World for the first time, working for Disney became a dream for me. I know it's a privilege to be here today, and I’m very grateful to be with my current team. All of them are people that I admire, and they are incredible magic makers.”
3. How has your past leadership encouraged your professional development, and how is your current leadership investing in you?
Vitória: “My previous leadership always encouraged me to ask questions about anything I didn’t know. It may seem simple, but showing that you’re not afraid to ask questions and that you’re willing to learn demonstrates a big difference. This was certainly a great incentive in my professional development.”
4. What are your responsibilities in your current role? What does your day-to-day look like?
Akila: “In my current position, I analyze advertising content for Disney+ internally and for external clients to launch them on the streaming platform. This task requires a lot of attention and agility, as there are many Disney guidelines and policies that must be followed.”
Vitória: “As a junior producer in creative services at ESPN, I’m responsible for commercials for sports events, such as soccer, tennis, American football, etc., inviting viewers to watch the games on our broadcaster. Some of my tasks include organizing the schedule, sourcing images, and collaborating with writers, announcers, editors, sound designers and designers.”
5. What advice would you give to anyone looking to further their career with Disney?
Eduardo: “For those who want to have a career at Disney, there are essential points that go beyond hard skills and a professional background. It's about understanding all the magic and values behind the company and how they relate to your goals. Once you show yourself to be true to yourself and what you believe in, it becomes much easier to make your dreams a reality.”
Ana: “Knowing about Disney’s magic and the company’s history helped me get to where I am today. Keep believing in your dreams because anything is possible, and things will happen at the right time.”
