Jean, Rigging Department
Jean brings the magic to life through her role in the Rigging Department, specializing in maintenance, inspections and installations for various venues and events across the park. "I've always found that the work it takes to make entertainment happen, especially Disney magic, is a separate kind of magic entirely," she explains. Jean’s favorite entertainment offering is "Luminous: The Symphony of Us," a nighttime spectacular that symbolizes the global human experience, serving as a reminder of the significance of being part of something larger than oneself. “The show always helps me keep perspective on what exactly I’ve chosen to be a part of by working as an Entertainment Technician for Disney,” she shares.
Thai, Crew Chief
A seasoned crew chief at the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Thai ensures performances by overseeing audio, video and lighting. With a diverse range of responsibilities, from “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue... and Beyond!” automation to runDisney marathon support, Thai's journey spans four years. "Since I was a kid, I have been amazed by how Disney, especially in our parks, can create awe-inspiring shows that make you wonder, ‘How did they do that?’," explains Thai. His favorite offerings include "Happily Ever After," a breathtaking show with personal significance as it was the first show he ever watched as a guest, and the “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue... and Beyond!” musical, a project close to his heart because he got to help but it together. He shares that “both are vivid reminders of why I love what I do.”
Phaedra, Audio Crew Chief
Phaedra, an entertainment stage technician at Magic Kingdom, specializes in audio. With five years at Disney, she's been a crew chief for ABC filming specials and recently became the castle audio crew chief. Her favorite offering at Walt Disney World is the "Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular,” because “it is beyond amazing to work and experience!” The technical brilliance of lighting, audio, video, pyrotechnics, props and effects converges to create an unforgettable experience. "I've always loved the way Disney told stories, so it was my dream to be a part of and fulfill those stories being told," said Phaedra.
Ashley, Lighting Crew Chief
Ashley is the park lighting crew chief for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, responsible for maintaining lighting, troubleshooting issues and providing training. “I’ve never felt more supported and respected than I have in my current role,” expressed Ashley.” Her favorite Walt Disney World entertainment offering is "Fantasmic!" It symbolizes her growth in the field and the magic she can create in everyday life. "It's so intrinsic to who I am as a technician," she explains. The show's imagery, especially Sorcerer Mickey conducting lasers, holds a special place in her heart.
Meghan, Production Planner
Meghan brings magic to events by planning technical elements. With diverse day-to-day responsibilities, Meghan loves the positive team environment and collaboration. "No two days are ever the same, and that is why I enjoy doing it so much," Meghan says. Her Disney journey spans five years, from starting as a houseperson to her dream role now as an entertainment stage technician. Her favorite entertainment offering is the "Happily Ever After" nighttime spectacular at the Magic Kingdom, a sentimental reminder to find happiness even on tough days.
