From Disney Internships to Beyond: Meet Three Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Cast Members Making an Impact
Have you ever wondered where an internship at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort could take you? For Katie, Jonathan, and Winnie, their Disney Internships with Communications and Public Affairs (CPA) led them to a career beyond the program when they continued with the company as Public Affairs Assistants after their internships concluded. In their roles, they bring magic to life while supporting media relations, publicity, government relations, community engagement, cast communications and advocacy, social media content creation and event administration.
“The CPA team feels like one big family,” Katie shared. “While we have multiple areas of responsibility, all of us are closely connected in our daily operations and when we come together, we create an even greater impact.”
Whether they initially applied to the internship program because they grew up as a Disney fan or because they found the company to be an attractive employer, they all have an excitement to spread joy and inspire hope for our guests while working beside communication experts at the Resort.
“Hong Kong is a city full of hustle and bustle, and the Resort has always been my favorite place to escape from reality,” said Winnie. “Without hesitation, I applied for a Disney Internship so I could work in a dream place.”
Since the start of their Disney careers, first-of-its-kind milestones have taken place on the property like the world’s first World of Frozen opening, the unveiling of the Dream Makers statue, and The Walt Disney Company celebrating its 100th anniversary.
“Participating in these launches was a humbling and precious experience I’ll never forget,” Katie said.
Winnie added, “Supporting the opening of World of Frozen was such a memorable project. The first time I stepped into World of Frozen, it was still under construction and Disney Imagineers introduced us to how they created this magnificent Frozen-themed land. Everything was just the same as in the movie!”
As their internships concluded, they all wanted to stay with the company for multiple reasons. For Jonathan, he shared that the positive team dynamic was important to him. “The welcoming office environment made me want to stay and continue to make magic.”
Additionally, Winnie shared, “Work-life balance is also strongly advocated for here!” From exclusive cast previews to VoluntEARS events and wellness classes, there are multiple ways for cast members to become involved, relaxed and connected outside of work.
As others consider internship roles with the Resort, Jonathan had some words of wisdom for any students curious about the program.
“To the students out there who are interested in an internship at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Trust yourself and you will find limitless opportunities here in the process,” he said. Additionally, he believes it’s important to follow the direction of Buzz Lightyear—his favorite character—and go for infinity and beyond.
