Anthony, a Recreation Coordinator and Traditions Facilitator at Walt Disney World Resort, brings magic into the everyday experiences of guests and his fellow cast members. He's created countless moments of happiness in his four years with the company, turning each interaction into a heartwarming connection.

One interaction that sticks with Anthony came during a shift working as a lifeguard at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Anthony encountered a young boy named Dominic who was upset about the weather-related pool closure. Through Anthony's guidance and genuine care, Dominic's initial dislike of lifeguards transformed into a joyful "I love lifeguards" proclamation, showcasing the profound impact cast members can have on guests. “I still carry this story with me everywhere I go,” Anthony says.

Anthony's responsibilities involve maintaining clean, safe recreation areas and planning events.

“Recreation Coordinators are the ones who keep the magic safe and maintained for our guests to enjoy, and at the same time for our cast members to work in,” he explains. He emphasizes the well-being of both guests and the 200-member Recreation team spread across multiple resorts.

Anthony's Disney journey began as a lifeguard at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, quickly progressing to a trainer and later joining the opening team for Disney’s Riviera Resort. In addition, Anthony also became a Traditions Facilitator, a prestigious opportunity to be one of the first faces welcoming new cast members during their onboarding experience.

“The most fulfilling part of my job must be interacting with my team and creating happiness for our guests, especially in the small ways,” Anthony says. He loves the Recreation team's camaraderie, supportive environment and focus on guest service. Pre- and post-shift meetings, where stories are shared, add a sense of community to his day.

Looking ahead, Anthony, supported by Disney Aspire, is pursuing his bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Central Florida, with plans to continue to Graduate School for licensure. He aims to become a psychologist specializing in child psychology or psychological principles of leadership and training. Disney Aspire and tuition reimbursement for leaders showcase the company's commitment to his growth, academically or within the organization. Disney Aspire is an educational investment program that provides eligible hourly cast members and employees with the resources they need to achieve their academic goals.

“I feel like the company really tries to maximize my growth whether I choose to stay with the company or not and that makes me feel as though I am truly doing it for me,” he expresses.

He also appreciates the positive impacts of the Inclusion Key, fostering an inclusive and comfortable work environment. “The Inclusion Key to me means being able to be my authentic self without having any fear,” Anthony says.

Grateful to be a part of the Disney legacy, Anthony enjoys passing on the company's heritage to new cast members. He values benefits like the Employee Assistance Program for mental health support and the opportunity to explore the parks for product knowledge and entertainment leadership.

Anthony's advice to those considering working for Disney is simple: give yourself the chance to be part of something great. By embracing the company's values and putting in your best effort, the possibilities for personal and professional growth are vast.

“The possibilities are endless here and I continue to open new doors with opportunities that seem to show up at every turn.”

In Anthony's story, the magic of Disney isn't just for the guests; it's a daily reality for all who make it.
