Are you ready to begin the first chapter of your career with Disney? Then keep reading because we connected with four cast members – Dijah, Rachel, Alison and Natalie – who just completed their own Disney Internships and have shared more about what participants could expect!

Disney Interns with Human Resources

Dijah, Rachel, Alison, and Natalie were all interns – now part-time cast members – on the Human Resources (HR) team. In their roles, they supported recruitment activities like onsite interview arrangements, onboarding and training.

Dijah is a year two student majoring in Psychology at City University of Hong Kong and currently supporting the Learning and Development team, which typically encompasses the preparation of education and communication materials. Rachel, who supports the Front of House Talent Acquisition team and previously the Cast Engagement team as an intern, is a final-year student, majoring in human resources management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She shared that supporting multiple areas within HR gave her the chance to take on different tasks and discover how she could continue to grow and develop within her field. Alison, a year four art student and a dedicated member of the Global HR Operations team, focused on optimizing onboarding procedures to ensure a seamless experience for new hires and managing employee movement. For Natalie, her internship in HR helped her navigate different paths within the field and decide her desired route after graduation. With her passion for helping and communicating with others, she’s currently aspiring to work in the ERP field (HR management systems) in the future.

Toward the end of their internships, they worked together to create a video that highlighted the impact HR has on a cast member when initially joining the company. From recruitment to onboarding and Disney University classes, the team plays an important role in the career journey of each person.

In addition to the video they created together, there was a wide range of other projects like giving World of Frozen story tours, participating in Hong Kong Disneyland Resort career fairs and presenting a group intern project during an HR All-Staff Meeting.

“We were glad to share our experiences and memories in the past three months to all our HR colleagues with our presentation, which reflected our internship journey,” said Rachel. “It was a touching moment.”

“After we presented, our team surprised us with a video recorded by our managers appreciating our efforts during the internship period,” said Natalie. “Following the video, Wai Quen [vice president, Human Resources, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort] presented each of us with a Duffy plush in a graduation outfit that had our name stitched onto the gown. Our leadership put in so much effort to appreciate us by preparing many surprises. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort cares deeply about its interns - they see us as future pillars to be nurtured and developed.”

Away from work, they spent time in the park, participated in Disney VoluntEARS events and created unforgettable memories with friends at cast engagement activities.

“I genuinely enjoyed every little thing that we did, from greeting each other, giving supportive messages and having lunch together,” said Dijah. “My favorite part is the fact that our friendship lasts even after the internship.”

When asked if they had any advice for students interested in participating in a Disney Internship Alison shared, “Actively engage in all available opportunities. Embrace the unique culture and diversity at Disney, seizing every chance to learn and contribute. This internship goes beyond a regular job; it's an enriching experience that will contribute significantly to both personal and professional growth.”
