Making Magical Memories for Guests as a Sales Director with Disney Vacation Club
As part of Disney Vacation Club’s Sales team, cast members have the opportunity to create magical memories for guests that will truly last a lifetime. Sara has been with the company since 2019 and has grown in her role in more ways than one – starting as a sales counselor and working her way up to her current role as a Sales Director at Disneyland Resort.
What initially sparked Sara’s interest in Disney Vacation Club (DVC) was an unforgettable Disney vacation experience of her own. “I was vacationing at Aulani Resort and Spa and fell in love with our product and the place,” she says. “I have always been a huge fan of the Disney movies and admire the company’s values and business models. I knew I always wanted to work for Disney one day but never thought it would be feasible. It’s still surreal to me that I work for Disney!”
Now, as a Sales Director, Sara makes that same magic she experienced possible for guests every day. “We help families be able to visit year after year - creating a legacy of vacations and memories that most people dream about doing,” she explains. “Guest experience is the most important thing to consider when selling DVC. When you are having fun with the guests and make the sale about them and their dreams, you can’t go wrong.”
No two days are alike with Disney Vacation Club - and in her current role, Sara’s work responsibilities can span from meetings and strategizing to visiting sales locations and chatting with cast members to ensure the operation is running smoothly. According to Sara, the average workday looks like: “Lots of meetings, planning, strategizing and collaborating. We are always looking towards the future and finding ways to continue to grow and make an impact.”
Though her role now is more behind-the-scenes, Sara recognizes the importance of the operation and makes sure to support her cast members whenever possible. “I am also in-market, walking locations daily and out with cast as much as I can to show support and appreciation and looking for areas to improve with efficiencies, lead generation, marketing and more.” She’s inspired by her team’s success, saying, “Nothing beats watching your team succeed and reach new heights.”
Throughout her various roles with Disney Vacation Club over the years, the most important lesson she’s learned is simple: practicing patience. “At Disney, you need to have patience and really think out everything you do and how it can look long term,” Sara advises. Her experience has helped her immensely, ensuring she’s able to conduct her job duties confidently and efficiently. “Being successful in my role as a sales counselor has helped me be more strategic with growing the operation and setting the counselors up for success.” She continues, “Also, it has helped me have necessary credibility with the team.” She appreciates the growth and development DVC has offered throughout her various roles on the sales team to now in her current role as a Sales Director.
While the work is demanding at times, the magical moments she’s able to make for guests makes it all worth it. “Seeing little kids’ faces in the parks when they see characters or are visiting for the first time is a favorite experience,” she says. Making an impact on guests is what we do here at Disney, and Sara is proud to be part of that legacy with Disney Vacation Club’s Sales Team at Disneyland Resort.
