Combining Lifelong Passion for Sports with Disney through Brazil Apprenticeship Program
Nicolle, content operations apprentice at ESPN in Brazil, grew up passionate about sports, especially soccer. When she learned about Disney’s Apprenticeship Program in Brazil, she was given the possibility to combine her two lifelong passions: the magic of Disney stories and her love for sports. “This combination was like a magical connection,” described Nicolle, “allowing me to develop my career without leaving aside everything that has enchanted me since I was little.”
In her role, she works across various departments with a focus on the exhibition team. She enjoys learning how television operates and observing how productions and events are organized, while actively participating in live broadcasting processes on ESPN channels. Her daily tasks include pre-event checks, monitoring live media broadcasts, supervising program sponsorships, maintaining the quality of broadcast content and addressing any potential issues. She is responsible for verifying data in assigned spreadsheets, gathering information for reports and recording employee shifts. In addition, she expands her knowledge of other areas within her department. For example, when she engages in tasks with the recording team, she gains experience in recording content for ESPN.
Nicolle describes her team as one of the best parts of her job. Everyone is attentive, supportive, fun and always ready to help with any questions she has. They are eager to share their knowledge and guide in the right direction. She also has the opportunity to interact with various departments, all of which are equally open and willing to teach.
“What stands out the most is how everyone prioritizes collaboration above all else, creating a work environment that is both welcoming and enjoyable.”
Since joining The Walt Disney Company, Nicolle has developed both professionally and personally. “Employees are always willing to share their experiences and are incredibly helpful, which further contributes to my growth,” she explained. Disney has also played a significant role in shaping the direction Nicolle wants to take her career through offering various courses and resources within its areas of operation.
One of Nicolle’s favorite memories working at Disney was participating in D23 Brazil. “Experiencing that moment was truly incredible,” she recalled. “Witnessing the anticipation and excitement surrounding the event’s first time in Brazil, seeing the joy of the fans, meeting the people who made it all possible and watching the employees celebrate its success created a unique and unforgettable feeling. Being part of it all was an experience I will always treasure.”
Nicolle’s experience with Disney’s Apprenticeship Program has been “exceptional.” She believes that early career opportunities at Disney stand out because of the mentorship culture.
