Celebrate Jazz Month with 4 Disney Cruise Line Musicians
Join us as we celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month and explore life at sea with four musicians performing on the Disney Wonder! Sebastian, Justin, Bobby and Kendel perform live jazz in the French Quarter Lounge and Tiana’s Place each night for guests. From jamming with Princess Tiana to inspiring guests of all ages, these musicians know how to infuse their own magic in each performance.
Sebastian, Pianist

What inspires your passion for music?
“The raw, electric moment of musical connection. That magical space where improvisation meets emotion, where each note is both carefully crafted and spontaneously born, I am driven by the profound joy of creating something unique in every performance. Each time I sit at the piano, I know that the music will never be played exactly the same way again.”
What’s a day-in-the-life like onboard?
“As a trio pianist at Tiana's, my day starts with a focused warm up session, preparing both technically and emotionally. Each performance is an opportunity to share my deep love for jazz, transforming the French Quarter and Tiana’s Place atmosphere with live music that captures the soul of New Orleans.”
What’s it like working with your fellow musicians?
“As a great collaborator, my favorite part about working with fellow cast members is the seamless musical chemistry we create. In jazz, and especially in our Disney setting, teamwork is everything. I thrive on the shared energy, the unspoken musical communication, and how we collectively elevate each performance. Whether it's a subtle nod, a shared smile, or an intuitive musical response, our cast members work together to create something truly special that goes beyond individual talent - it's about creating magic together.”
Justin, Vocalist

What helped prepare you for your role?
“So, I’ve always had a knack for customer service, I’ve been a bartender, bank teller, server, just to name a few. But all these roles prepared me because there’s a certain level of performance in each one of them. Singing in weddings and other venues taught me how to engage a crowd and how to work with other musicians other than myself.”
Tell us your favorite part of your role!
“Seeing the different crowds and feeling their energy as we all clap along to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - I’m sure I spelled that right! Seeing the smiling faces in the crowds recharges me every time! I work for Disney because giving someone a moment of happiness whether it’s through a song or asking them about their day is the line of work I’m interested in. Disney creates magic and I love to as well.”
Any advice for musicians considering a contract with Disney Cruise Line?
“Pack light!! You will definitely get everything you need as you progress in your contract. I wish someone had told me that! Also, have an open mind to the entire experience.”
Bobby, Pianist

What prepared you for this role?
“Born and raised in the heart of New Orleans, I’ve been playing music for over 20 years. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of playing alongside some of the city’s finest musicians and legends, each experience shaping me into the artist I am today. It’s been an incredible journey, one that continues to inspire me every single day.”
What’s it like playing in a jazz trio?
“We’re always creating new vibes, making every moment fun and memorable. The best part is how much we enjoy playing music together, it’s not just about the shows. Even when we’re offstage, we’re bonding, laughing, and pushing each other to be better, making every experience feel like a celebration.”
Any core memories?
“I had the privilege of knowing a young boy and he came to every one of our shows in the French Quarter Lounge. Without fail, he’d roll right up to the front, feet on the stage, and sing along to the old soul music with all his heart. His actions spoke volumes. He expressed his love for our music in the most beautiful, unspoken way. Watching him, seeing that raw joy and connection, brought me an indescribable happiness.”
Kendel, Vocalist

Biggest surprise working for Disney?
“Honestly, I was really surprised at just how organized the company is with regards to their crew members. I have worked for other cruise lines before and Disney by far goes the extra mile for the comfort and success of their crew members. From flights to life on board. They make every step of your journey go by really smoothly.”
Why Disney?
“What greater job is there!? To work for Disney has been a lifelong dream of mine! I feel really grateful and filled with a sense of pride that I was able to make it happen. I have always been a musician, getting the opportunity to work with Disney Cruise Line has been somewhat of a dream come true. I guess my background in classical music and theatre has helped me to fit right in.”
How do you prepare for performing each day?
“I wake up in the morning and if there is a rehearsal to go to then that will be the first thing I do for the day. I try to meditate at least once a day in preparation for my performances as it puts me in the right state of mind. Once I am on stage I feel right at home.”
