Gain Real-World Industry Experience

“An internship here is an amazing opportunity to learn how a company of this scale operates and to learn from the incredible teams who make it all happen,” said Laura. At Disney, interns are trusted members of their teams meaning they learn to manage stakeholders and projects independently. “Our interns return to their final year of university with real-world experience that will really set them apart in future job interviews. Beyond that, I hope that this internship shows them they are capable of more than they thought!”

As the Studios Marketing and Publicity Intern, Josh works with the Studios team across all marketing and publicity aspects of Disney theatrical releases. “My favorite part of the role is being able to play a part in the marketing campaigns of some of the biggest films being released in cinemas today, and see them come to life here in Ireland, in particular, our premiere screening and afterparty was a really cool experience,” said Josh. “To celebrate the release of Searchlight Pictures A Complete Unknown, we held an Irish premiere screening in The Stella Cinema. Being able to play a part in the team's combined effort from start to finish and being able to learn about everything that goes into an event like that was both a very valuable and fulfilling experience.”

For Deborah, no two days are the same as a Marketing and Publicity Intern at Disney+. “One day, I might be working on social boosting and content scheduling, and the next, I’m attending a screening or press junket. I love the fast-paced, ever-changing environment, where I get to collaborate on exciting campaigns, interact with different teams, and see firsthand how marketing strategies evolve. Whether it's assisting with events, or diving into industry research, each day brings a new challenge and learning opportunity, making the experience both dynamic and rewarding,” said Deborah. “One of the key projects I contributed to during my internship at Disney+ was working on the Rivals junket and media monitoring. Being involved in the press junket for Rivals, featuring Victoria Smurfit and Aidan Turner, was an exciting experience. I played a role in media monitoring, tracking press coverage, and social conversation around the series. Seeing how publicity efforts translate into media buzz was incredibly insightful and gave me a deeper understanding of the impact of strategic PR campaigns.”

Grow Your Professional Capabilities

“One of the things I really value about our internship programme is that each intern brings unique skillsets, so each one has a different journey with Disney and contributes to our teams’ success in different ways,” said Laura. “In my opinion, the most important thing we are looking out for is enthusiasm for the industry and a willingness to immerse yourself in your team and our wider culture. Interns who are curious and proactive in finding opportunities to grow their skills tend to be successful in the company.”

From the months of preparation to working a premiere, Deborah and Josh gained hands-on experience and furthered their careers throughout their internships. “One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned during my internship at Disney+ is the power of effective communication and collaboration,” said Deborah. “Working closely with various teams, from PR to media planning, has shown me how essential clear and concise communication is in executing successful campaigns. Whether it was coordinating for the Rivals junket, assisting with media monitoring, or working on social boosting, I saw firsthand how collaboration ensures everything runs smoothly. I’ve also learned the importance of proactively asking questions, following up, and keeping my team informed, skills that will be invaluable in any future role.”

Josh also found that collaboration was a key skill in his role, working with partners both inside and outside of the company across all aspects of the industry.  “I feel proud and grateful to have been able to work for Disney as it’s one of the world’s most well-known and iconic brands, and is synonymous with film and entertainment,” said Josh. “Disney allowed me to gain a real-world professional workplace experience, where I was treated as a full member of the team and was given real opportunities to have my input. I will definitely take away an improved professional confidence from my placement.”
