How a Disney Trip Led to a Dream Career

Can you remember your first trip to Walt Disney World? Disney cast member Brittany Wylie can – because that trip changed her life forever.

More than 20 years ago, she visited Walt Disney World for the first time with her family. While at The Seas with Nemo & Friends, she fell in love with animals. This sparked a dream to one day work with animals at Disney.

“The Seas with Nemo & Friends was my favorite part of our Disney trip because of all the animals. It was awe-inspiring for four-year-old me to see the different types of aquariums and marine life,” Brittany said. “That attraction is what helped build my love for animals and eventually my love for wanting to do that as a career.”

And where better to accomplish your dreams than the place they first began? Especially since Brittany was a big Disney fan.

“Growing up and coming to the parks, I was obsessed with Disney,” she said. “As I got older, I learned so much about the conservation work that Disney does all over the world. Knowing how much Disney gives back made me want to work at the parks even more.”

Disney takes action every day to protect animals, connect communities to nature and support a healthier planet – both at Walt Disney World and around the world. More than 5,000 animals call Disney World home, and we have a talented team of vets, nutritionists, animal keepers, educators and more who care for these animals and share their stories with guests.

As an Animal Keeper, Brittany takes care of animals at Animal Kingdom. Her role involves feeding animals, providing them with enrichment items and experiences, cleaning their habitats, training and more. It’s a dream come true!

“I get to do what I love every single day,” Brittany said. “This was a very big dream of mine and to be able to fulfill that, work for Disney and work with these animals is truly the culmination of my life.”
