Meet the Reedy Creek Energy Services Team!
Did you know that behind the scenes here at Walt Disney World, several teams work around the clock to make happy happen for our Guests? Meet Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES) – this team of Cast Members keep our favorite attractions running, maintain hot and cold water and even manage waste and recyclables across property.
As a Power Distribution Technician, Amberae Shelton and her team oversee the electrical systems that bring power to every corner of our property, covering over 25,000 acres! “We distribute power to every inch of Walt Disney World,” Amberae said. “We ensure that when switches are flipped, the lights turn on.” From attractions to hotel rooms, Amberae distributes power properly and re-establishes power if lost before Guests even feel the impact.
We can thank Water Operator Shariff Thomas and his teams for maintaining our three water distribution systems that provide clean, safe drinking water and even the water for showers at our resorts. “Working with water is a passion for me,” Shariff said. “I feel proud to come to work and do what I do each day from testing and cleaning to distribution.”
Ever wonder what happens to leftover food at Walt Disney World or even used animal bedding? Ask Solid Waste Service Managers, Toy Livingston and Melisa Johnson, who work with their team to collect and sort recyclables across Walt Disney World. “Recycling is in everything we do,” Toy said. “Our team and a fleet of over 35 vehicles ensure every piece is given a purpose through composting or reuse.”
When it comes to keeping Walt Disney World energized, Marlin Vaughn, an Energy Plant Operator, has us covered. Marlin and his team work together to manage the energy necessary to heat, cool, and power systems. “Here, we’re more than just a team, we’re family,” Marlin said. “Through our teamwork, we make sure Guests have a refreshing experience by delivering cool air and water through the facilities we manage.” This energy helps operate our air conditioning systems, attractions, Animatronics, and even keeps our grass green!
Reedy Creek Energy Services Cast Members share a common belief – if Guests don't know they exist, they are doing their jobs right! And they bring expertise and a commitment to their work to maintain the high standards our Guests expect.
