Part of the Story: From Disney Interns to Disney Technologists

At The Walt Disney Company, the possibilities for your career are endless. Meet five technologists at Disney who started their careers as Disney Interns and now work for the company in full-time roles.

Zoë started her Disney journey as a Software Engineer Intern. She chose to work for Disney because it’s a brand she has loved since her childhood days watching Disney Channel. When asked about how the company has helped her grow in her career, she told us, “I have such a great leadership team. I've always been vocal with them about what I'm interested in, what I want to learn, what I want to do, and they've helped me get there and find new opportunities.”

Francesca, Associate Product Manager, Enterprise Technology

Francesca started with the company in 2022 as a Media and Art Pipeline Development Intern for Walt Disney Imagineering. She’s learned many lessons during her career, but two stick out to her the most. The first is research areas of interest and ask informed, intelligent questions. Francesca shared that, “Disney has some wonderful resources. There are people here who are more than happy to help you grow. But they also encourage you to find those answers and come up with creative solutions on your own.”

The second lesson Francesca learned is to foster relationships and build connections. “Everyone at Disney is passionate about what they do and what they get to create. You never know who can answer the questions you need to ask. Creating that network can help you both in your role and on a personal level.”

Vik, Designer I, Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology

Our next intern-turned-technologist began his Disney Internship in 2021 as a Design Intern, supporting the ESPN and Enterprise design teams. To Vik, Disney is home to some of the most talented minds in entertainment, technology, and business, and he does his very best to take advantage of this unique exposure. Some of his colleagues make time for learning sessions where they share a skill or an experience. Because of this, he is never short of inspiration, and he has many mentors to look up to.

Maggie, Business Intelligence Engineer, Disney Studio Technology

Maggie was first connected with Disney through a friend who was working with Disney Experiences. This connection introduced her to a campus recruiter who pointed her towards the Grace Hopper Celebration. Shortly after the conference, she accepted an offer to support Disney Studio Technology as a Business Intelligence Intern. She explained why she enjoys working for Disney by saying, “I love the commitment to excellence, innovation, and the focus on telling great stories.”

Finally, meet Matthew! He started his Disney career as a Web Development Intern in 2019, followed by a second internship as a Software Engineering Intern in 2022. When he first started applying for internships, he knew he wanted to work for a tech company but didn’t realize Disney offered those opportunities. He began to wonder what tech-centric opportunities he could be overlooking when he came across Disney Internship posts on social media. After applying and accepting an offer for an internship, he was placed with a team that allowed him to contribute to the development of Disney+. He told us, “It really did feel like magic!”
