What has been your proudest moment or greatest achievement in your internship?
Olivia: On the second day of my internship, I got to attend a pitch meeting and pitch ideas to our team. I was incredibly nervous and had no idea if my ideas were good, or even what they were looking for. The next day, our amazing Executive Producer, Brian Teta said, "Great job at the pitch meeting yesterday, I really liked your ideas." I felt like I was on cloud nine! I was so excited and felt so relieved. It solidified the fact that I'm right where I need to be.
Was there a specific moment or experience that inspired you to pursue an internship with ABC News?
Megan: I wanted to pursue an internship with ABC News after Jonathan Karl, a co-anchor of This Week, spoke to my broadcast journalism class during my sophomore year of college. Upon reading his book for the class, I was in awe of all the experience he has at the network. From that day forward, I knew ABC News was at the top of my list for my internships.
What has been your proudest moment or greatest achievement in your internship?
Gabriella: This role is incredibly rewarding and pushes me to step outside of my comfort zone. One of my proudest moments was when the team featured me on an episode of "GMA3" in honor of National Intern Day! I made a national TV appearance where I spoke to the anchors and even tossed to commercial. I am not used to being on camera, so it was exciting to do something new!
In your opinion, what makes Disney different as an employer compared to other companies?
Olivia: Disney has been such an amazing place to work because of the people. I've reached out to many people across the company to chat with, and every single person I've talked to has been so kind. Everyone always goes out of their way to help me and give me advice, and that truly is what makes Disney so special. The culture is about helping others, even if you don't know them. That’s the magic of Disney!
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work at ABC News?
Megan: You don't have to know everything about news, you just need to show passion, drive and a willingness to learn! Everyone there wants you to learn no matter how big of a name they are (most of them started out there as interns too!)
In your opinion, what makes Disney different as an employer compared to other companies?
Gabriella: The "GMA3" team is like no other. My colleagues are always looking for ways to elevate our journalism and shine a light on stories that are not often seen nationally. It is an inclusive environment that promotes the collaboration of ideas to enhance our storytelling and relevance to our audiences.
