Unlocking the Disney Leadership Difference in APAC

APAC Disney Leadership Essentials (DLE) is a three-day in-person leadership workshop designed for first-time people managers to learn what it means to be leaders at The Walt Disney Company.

New leaders are offered the chance to develop essential leadership skills and knowledge, build relationships across the organization, and gain insights to transform their leadership approach in the context of Disney’s culture, values, and leadership expectations.

This program covers critical leadership topics and practices at Disney, and attendees are given the opportunity to share and listen to each other’s personal stories and coach each other in developing their leadership roles.

“When I participated in the DLE program, I’d not been exposed to comprehensive leadership training such as this, so it was a lot to take in for me. The topic that most resonated with me was how leading with a growth mindset, and being open to diverse opinions and work styles, is important to innovation and success, especially in my role as a creative. As a manager it’s been really rewarding to see how challenging convention always results in superior output, whether it be a fresh outlook on an established style or process improvement.”

Ivy, Director, Accounting, APAC, China

“During the program, interactive discussions and presentations highlighted the crucial role of open dialogue within diverse teams, teaching us to value everyone’s unique perspectives and create inclusive, productive environments. Furthermore, the Senior Leader Sharing sessions and alumni panels provided unique opportunities for direct engagement with seasoned leaders, deepening our understanding of company culture and values through real-world insights. For me, DLE was a transformative journey of personal and leadership development, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.”

“DLE was an incredible and valuable experience that connected me with fellow leaders from various business areas within our company. It was especially inspiring to learn from senior leadership, who openly shared their journeys and insights. DLE went beyond theory, focusing on real-life scenarios and equipping us with practical tools and strategies for everyday leadership. From empowering team members by delegating tasks aligned with their strengths to addressing challenges with empathy and insight, this program truly prepares us to lead effectively.”

Misa, Senior Manager, Business Planning, Brand Commercialization, Japan

“As someone new to people management, DLE provided me with invaluable tools to lead both myself and others with purpose. One of the key takeaways for me was the importance of delegation. Transitioning from an individual contributor role, I initially found it challenging to let go of tasks and trust others to take ownership. Through DLE, I learned how to delegate effectively, empowering my team while focusing on higher-level priorities. Insights like this one have fundamentally shaped how I lead and continue to grow as a manager."
