How one cast member found his spotlight! – Jeffrey, Assistant Stage Manager
There are possibilities behind every door at Disney!
Meet Jeffrey! Jeffrey is now an assistant stage manager at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort but began his career as a Disney intern. He is so thankful to have started his journey with his dream company.
Jeffrey knew from a young age that Disney was the company for him. “When I was small, my family often brought me to Hong Kong Disneyland. We often went after school or in the evening. I have always been fascinated by this magical place. As a guest, I always noticed how happy the environment was and I wanted to be a part of that.” As he was studying to finish school with a Tourism and Event Management degree, he started as a Professional Intern in Recreation on the Hotel Operations Team. He really enjoyed being a part of this team and getting to know all three hotels located at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
As Jeffrey networked throughout his first internship, he knew he wanted to continue to grow and explore new opportunities in the company. He found himself landing another internship in Production on the Entertainment Team. This internship was a dream come true as he always had a strong passion for live entertainment. He is grateful for the leaders he had met as they offered him full support as he transitioned into this new role. He shared that his leaders inspired him to challenge himself in a new area so that he could grow his skills. “You never know what potential your managers see in you!” he shared.
Through his internship in Production, Jeffrey was then offered an Assistant Stage Manager role! In his current role he specializes in private events including weddings, parties, and his favorite, this year’s New Year’s Eve countdown. This is only the second time that Hong Kong Disneyland is hosting the countdown in the park and he is so excited to be a part of it this year.
He also shared that he was excited to help with the Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend event this year. “It was a mega event!” Jeffrey said he was proud to see such a large team come together. Learning the logistics to put on an exciting race was not something he expected from his role but was more than ready to jump in!
Jeffrey is appreciative that this role brings so much diverse work to his day and that every day is different and dynamic. He enjoys setting up for rehearsals and watching the magic come alive.
Like his favorite character Chip, from Beauty and the Beast, Jeffrey encourages all future magic makers to stay curious and not limit yourself. “Always take the step even if you’re unsure what the future holds! Try and give your best to every opportunity.”
