Both have been with Disney for more than ten years after serving in the United States Military. In this episode, they both speak to how Disney is a wonderful employer for veterans thanks to the multiple resources, growing network within and opportunities for career development.
ABOUT THE HOST:
Dan joined The Walt Disney Company after a highly successful 30-year career as a United States Army officer. He has extensive leadership, operations and logistics experience. Dan has been deployed all over the world in support of combat and non-combat operations. Following a successful stint as Disney's first-ever Department of Defense/Chamber of Commerce Corporate Fellowship Program participant, a program intended to help military personnel transition back into the civilian workforce, Dan retired from the Army and grew his professional, civilian career at Disney.
Dan is passionate about veterans and veteran programs at The Walt Disney Company. He has worked countless hours to grow the Disney Military Fellowship Program and serve as the co-lead for the Florida SALUTE Belonging Employee Resource Group to help enhance the lives and careers of veteran cast members.
ABOUT THE GUESTS:
Felipe retired from active duty on February 1, 2024, after a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Army. A native of Paterson, New Jersey, he enlisted on December 23, 1993, as a 63B Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. Today, he applies his leadership and analytical skills as a Senior Financial Analyst, Disney Financial Systems at Team Disney, following participation in The Walt Disney Company’s “Heroes Work Here” Military Fellowship Program. Throughout his career, Felipe exemplified the Army values of loyalty, duty and selfless service. He continues to leverage his military leadership, logistical expertise and commitment to the community in his work for The Walt Disney Company and beyond.
Laura currently serves as Manager, Business Integration at Disney Institute, where she leads strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and cross-functional alignment. In her role, Laura oversees integration efforts across sales, client delivery, finance and operations. She ensures that systems, processes and people are aligned to support Disney Institute’s evolving business needs.
Laura joined Disney Institute in June 2018 through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program, following a distinguished 21-year career as a U.S. Army Officer. Throughout her military career, Laura was recognized with numerous honors, including two Bronze Star Medals, the Legion of Merit, the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Combat Action Badge and other awards commensurate with her service and leadership.
