2026-28 DET Directing Program – Scripted | Tessa Slovis

Congratulations to 2026-28 DET Scripted Program Director, Tessa Slovis, who has been assigned to shadow and direct an episode of ABC/20th’s HIGH POTENTIAL! An Argentinian Jewish filmmaker based in Los Angeles and New York, Tessa began her career as an actor at age nine, appearing Off-Broadway and in television and film. While earning her MFA in Acting at USC, she found her voice as a director and began her career behind the camera. Her directorial debut, PIZZA PARTY, a magic realist retelling of the night before the Larry Nassar trials began, received attention at international and Oscar-qualifying festivals. Her latest film, AISLES, has screened at the Philadelphia, Montclair, Rehoboth Beach, Portland, and Garden State film festivals. Tessa is attached to direct the teen comedy feature FALSE PROFITS and was selected for the inaugural STARZ x Alliance of Women Directors Creative Leadership directing fellowship. She also teaches acting and directing at USC, the Stella Adler Art of Acting Studio, and LACAE. Great work, Tessa!
