Kate and Laura from The Walt Disney Studios are here on the Life at Disney Podcast to share their stories and experiences on bringing to life the music and movies we know and love today.

Kate is a Character Technical Director with Walt Disney Animation Studios who started her career with Disney in 2013 and has worked on films such as "Big Hero 6," "Zootopia," "Moana" and more. Laura is the Director of Marketing for Disney Music Group and has been with the company for 15 years. Laura works closely with our businesses to develop music strategies and marketing plans for soundtracks.

Kate grew up in Charles Town, West Virginia and knew that she wanted to contribute to the fantastical world of animation since age nine. Since then, she began studying and drawing, eventually making her way to Savannah College of Art and Design, majoring in animation. Kate joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2013, with her first film being Big Hero 6, as a Character Technical Director, both as a rigging artist and a technical animator. She continued as a Technical Character Director on several titles, including Zootopia, Moana, Frozen 2, Encanto, and Wish – to name a few – and also held leadership roles as the Technical Animation Supervisor for Strange World, and Raya and the Last Dragon.

Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Laura has a B.A. in Marketing and a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, ITESM. As Director of Marketing for Disney Music Group, Laura shepherds marketing efforts for key Disney-branded music franchises, collaborating closely with the Walt Disney Animation Studio, Pixar Studios and the Studio Marketing Strategy team in developing strategies and marketing plans for soundtracks, both to launch and sustain the memorable music. Laura also oversees branding and marketing for Disney Hits SiriusXM channel. Recently, Laura has been named a Billboard 2024 Women in Music honoree.
