Making Magic as Interns with The Walt Disney Company Australia
Disney’s stories, characters and experiences reach consumers and guests from every corner of the globe, and Australia is no exception! Meet two interns, Saynab and Spencer, who were given the opportunity to be part of the story and make an impact with The Walt Disney Company Australia.
Saynab completed Corporate Communications and Human Resources internships. Her roles were dynamic and varied, as each day brought new opportunities to learn and grow. Mornings for Saynab typically started with team meetings, followed by responding to emails and collaborating with others on project requirements. Despite the busy schedule, she always had exciting events to look forward to, such as social gatherings, movie screenings, and lunch with her fellow interns.
When Saynab was looking for internships, she was surprised to find that Disney has a presence in Australia, but she found that Disney is a remarkable employer because of its distinctiveness and capacity to create amazing experiences for people of all ages. She shared, “From day one, it's evident that everyone shares a strong passion for their work, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and dedication. My supportive team fostered a sense of belonging and community throughout the internship experience.”
Throughout her internship, she embraced new challenges and opportunities. Saying, “Yes!” to experiences that align with her goals led to valuable learning and development, even if they pushed her out of her comfort zone. For example, Saynab’s proudest moment was overcoming her fear of public speaking and honing her presentation skills in front of large audiences.
Next, meet Spencer! When he saw the opportunity for an internship with Disney via his university, he knew he had to apply. Growing up enchanted by the magic of films such as Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story and Disney’s The Lion King, the chance to learn from and contribute to the company was a dream come true.
As a Retail Brand Marketing intern, no two days are exactly the same. He had the opportunity to connect with employees from all corners of the organisation, participate in Disney VoluntEARS events, and contribute to projects that interested him.
In Spencer’s opinion, when it comes to The Walt Disney Company, what you see is what you get. The magic, excitement and joy of Disney is extended to the company culture, encouraging employees to dream big and reach their full potential. As a result, Spencer’s confidence in himself grew in spades. One of his proudest moments was assisting in the planning and execution of launch events for a retail collaboration. After months of planning and preparation, it was rewarding for Spencer to see the events successfully come together across multiple locations.
As you can see, these internship opportunities are an invaluable start to a career with The Walt Disney Company! Participants of this program have access to Q&A sessions with senior leaders, working on a project that will leave a valuable impact, additional learning and development as an intern cohort, team bonding days, and more.
Australia internship programs are offered during a three-month period over the summer break. Candidates must be engaged in current undergraduate studies and possess full Australian working rights. Our programs are in partnership with Career Trackers, The Smith Family and some Universities.
