Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)

Specific rules have been established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the use of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) weighing 55 pound or less, also known as drones, in connection with work conducted in the Film and TV industry. sUAS used indoors, although not covered by FAA Rules, still require insurance approval by Enterprise Risk Management as well as a review by your Production Safety Manager.

Production must ensure that planned sUAS activities meets these requirements of FAA Part 107 Regulations. In addition, guidelines contained in CSATF Safety Bulletin #36 – “Recommended Guidelines for Safely Working around small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)” must be followed.

The most up-to-date regulations regarding sUAS can be found on the FAA sUAS website.  Please click Here.
