2023-24 DET Scripted Program Director, Tracy Taylor

Big congratulations to 2023-24 DET Scripted Program Director, Tracy Taylor, who will direct an upcoming episode of ABC/ABC Signature’s THE GOOD DOCTOR! Born and raised in Chicago, Tracy studied Journalism and Theater at Southern Illinois University. She began working as a copywriter before moving to Los Angeles to pursue writing and directing full-time. She jump-started her career by winning the BET Rap-It-Up film competition, for which she received a grant to write and direct a short film. The resulting work, WALKING ON SUNSHINE, was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Television Movie and won the Cable Positive award for Outstanding Television Movie. Her original directing work has received recognition from the New York Television Festival, Amazon and The Africa Channel. In 2018, she was a Semifinalist for the Humanitas New Voices TV Writing Program and a Finalist for The Ryan Murphy Half Foundation Television Directing Program. Tracy is an Alum of the 2019 Disney Writing Program, where she staffed on THE GOOD DOCTOR, ultimately rising through the ranks to become Co-Producer. We’re proud to continue supporting Tracy’s creative journey as she transitions to episodic television directing. Way to go, Tracy!
