What is the Programme?

This is a programme to give you a gateway to launch your career in Film & TV.

With participants' time split between Pinewood Studios and the National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield, our Trainee Programme is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to launch your career in this fast-paced industry.

Over the course of the two and a half weeks, we will cover:

• The Foundations: Understanding the fundamentals of Film & TV Production, such as learning the lifecycle of a production, on-set roles and how to navigate the industry.
• Department Overviews: Introductions to key departments, equipment used, etc.
• Practical Skills: Radio etiquette and hands-on practical workshops.
• Professional Skills: Networking, set etiquette, navigating different working styles.

A role on a Disney production is not guaranteed upon completion of the programme. However, participants will be supported by the Crew Talent team in securing interviews for suitable trainee opportunities on Disney productions. Participants will continue to receive support throughout the recruitment process and during their time on a Disney production.

We recruit Trainees in the following areas across our Productions:

• Production Management: Production Office, Accounts, Assistant Directors, Locations, Studio Unit, Publicity, Sustainability
• Craft: Art Department, Set Decorating, Props, Costume, Hair & Make-Up, Creature Effects
• Technical: Camera, Sound, Video, DIT, Grip, Electrical/Lighting, Script Supervision, SFX, VFX

Who is the Programme for?

This training is designed for individuals who are passionate about building a career in the Film & TV production industry. Whether you're looking to take your first step into the industry or explore a new direction, no prior experience is required—just a genuine enthusiasm for Film & TV, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to developing your craft.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have no Industry experience - can I apply?

Yes. No prior experience is required as this programme is designed for individuals that are keen to make their first step towards a career in the Film & TV industry. We want to hear from people that have a genuine enthusiasm for the industry with a strong desire to hone their craft.

Please note, this course is not designed for those aspiring to be on-screen.

How do I apply for the Disney Crew Academy?

Applications are accepted through our network of partner organisations. If you are connected with one of our partners, they will share details of the programme and application process directly with you. Please reach out to the appropriate partner directly for further information.

Applications submitted through these partners will be reviewed by the Disney Crew Talent team who will manage the full recruitment process.

Is there an age limit for applying to the programme?

There is no upper age limit, you just need to be 18 or over on the programme start date.

Is the programme paid?

Yes. All participants will receive a bursary to cover their travel and accommodation costs while on the course.

Trainee placements on productions will be paid at the regular trainee rate.

Do I need a driving license?

A driving license is not a requirement for the programme. Both locations are accessible by public transport.

What will be required of me while on the programme?

Participants will attend a 2.5 week training programme with time split between Pinewood Studios and the National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield. Hours may vary and you will be expected to be on time at the correct location each day.

We are looking for people that will fully engage with the programme to make the most of the learning opportunities.

There will be some self guided research required and a couple of group presentation tasks.

Am I guaranteed a placement after the programme?

A role on a Disney production is not guaranteed upon completion of the programme.

Participants will be supported by the Crew Talent team in securing interviews for suitable trainee opportunities on Disney productions both during and after the course.
