What’s next after the Disneyland College Program?

We’re a few months away from our final departure for our spring 2019 Disneyland Resort participants and right now, they have some big questions to answer before they leave. In fact, you probably have similar questions as you think about an internship at Disney…what comes next after the Disney College Program?

The reality is, most of our participants want to use their internship as a springboard into a career with The Walt Disney Company. You have 5-8 months at Disneyland® Resort, so why not make the most of it, right? Absolutely! The good news is, we’ll do everything we can to set you up for success and help you prepare for your career after the program.

Every season, we host weekly educational offerings that are designed to help the you network with leaders from throughout the company, teach you some life skills you’ll need after the program and showcase some of the areas at the resort you’re most interested in. We also do everything we can to offer classes on taking care of your mental health and get you ready for your life after the program, such as updating your resume and preparing for interviews.

Everyone needs a total of eight education hours each month of the program and the best part is, you get to choose which offerings you want to take to reach those hours. Of course, we also offer some in-park experiences, too, such as backstage tours of popular attractions and a private tour of Walt’s apartment. Since all of these are very educational, they also count as part of your education hours.

One of my favorite things about the Disneyland College Program is we know how important it is for you to further your career with the company, and we do everything we can to make that possible. Toward the end of every program, our scheduling team visits with everyone and walks you through all of the current job opportunities at Disneyland and lets each participant share their interest in those roles.

If you love your role and location and would love to stay, you can indicate you’re interested in staying on and we can help make that dream come true! Full or part time, or even seasonal…we’ve got you covered. Just keep in mind, a lot of that depends on availability and how hard you work throughout your internship. We provide the opportunities; it’s up to you to work hard during your internship and make it happen.

You can also apply for a Disney Professional Internship and have a hands-on experience learning from some of the most talented people in your respected field. If you participate in the Disneyland College Program, that doesn’t guarantee that you’ll receive a Professional Internship after your program, but you will have plenty of opportunities to network with leaders in that area, including their current Professional Intern(s). In fact, you may even live down the hall from them in our housing complex!

If you’re joining us in August for our fall season, start thinking ahead about what you want to do after your program. That way, you’ll have plenty of time to network while you’re here and you can take every possible step along the way to turn your internship into a professional career. Just don’t forget, we’ll provide you plenty of amazing opportunities, but it’s up to you take advantage of them and set yourself up for success.

Good luck!
