Frequently Asked Questions
When connecting with Disney teams about becoming established as a supplier, you may encounter the terms “Tier I” and “Tier II.” When Disney contracts directly with businesses, they are known as first tier or prime suppliers. When Disney’s prime suppliers buy from or sub-contract services though other businesses as part of their own sourcing process, those suppliers are known as second tier.
Becoming established as a Disney vendor is a process that requires an investment of time and resources. Potential suppliers must consider the timeline for becoming certified by one of the recommended organizations, as well as registering with the Disney portal, which can take between three and six months. Additionally, potential vendors must be aware that taking these steps does not guarantee a contract with The Walt Disney Company.
The Walt Disney Company recognizes certifications from the following organizations dedicated to supporting, training and sharing opportunities with diverse entrepreneurs:
NMSDC - National Minority Supplier Diversity Council
WBENC – Women’s Business Enterprise National Council
Veteran Small Business Certification
National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA)
